The Inventory Accountant is responsible for accounting, planning and analysis pertaining to all Crimson Wine Group finished goods inventory at all locations. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of inventory on hand, reconciliation of physical inventories, proper set up of new items in the system and transition of releases. 

This position ensures that inventory is accounted for in accordance with Company, GAAP, SEC, and other regulatory guidelines and works cross-functionally with Compliance, Sales, Finance & Production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Documents and communicates standard operating procedures and policies pertaining to the company’s finished goods and bulk wine inventory. Makes recommendations to improve or streamline procedures.
  • Performs monthly cased goods inventory reconciliation and cycle counts of physical to perpetual balances as scheduled for all locations where the company stores cased goods inventory.
  • Processes inventory related transactions, including physical inventory adjustments, bottling/repack transactions, pack assemblies and other ad hoc transactions as approved or required. 
  • Manages and maintains item set up in the company’s ERP system and other 3rd party systems for both wine and non-wine products.
  • Provides Quarterly reporting related to Inventory Positions; Long/Aged Inventory Reserves; Inventory for Destruction, etc.
  • Provides reporting and analysis on gains or losses associated with physical inventory counts, monitors trends and makes recommendations to ensure proper controls and management of inventory at each location.
  • Responsible for monthly Excise Tax tracking and reconciliation – Finished Good and Bulk Wine Inventory.
  • Provides support and ad hoc analytics for Compliance and Operations.
  • Reconciles inventory sub ledger to the general ledger monthly. 
  • Participates in the annual and long-range planning process.
  • Performs risk analysis on slow-moving inventory and works with production and sales teams on disposition plans for stock. 
  • Provides general customer support for all inquiries into stock levels, transactions, item set up and timing of releases.
  • Provides inventory analytics related to the company’s quarterly financial reviews, internal controls, and fiscal year-end audit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager i.e. ad hoc reporting, special projects, as necessary.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in related field or equivalent.
  • Two to four years of related experience /or training in the areas of inventory, cost accounting, logistics and/or winery, warehouse operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel required. Required Excel skills include advanced pivot table techniques, VLOOKUP’s, SUMIFs, and index/match functions. 
  • Experience working with an enterprise ERP system; Dynamics 365 – Business Central; Solver; Vintrace.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to lift max 40 lbs.

The projected base pay range for this position is $70k - $75k per year in addition to annual bonus potential. 

This is the projected compensation for the position however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
