Primary Responsibilities: This position is responsible for providing advocacy services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. This position is based out of the Crisis Center’s Junction City office and serves Geary and Clay counties.
Specific Duties:
· Provide advocacy services in Geary and Clay counties, including but not limited to: crisis intervention, personal advocacy, medical advocacy, court advocacy, law enforcement advocacy, supportive counseling, support groups, information and referrals, and transportation.
· Participate in a monthly on-call rotation with other advocates.
· Develop and maintain relationships and points of contact with referral sources in Geary and Clay counties.
· Work with other systems in various communities in Geary and Clay counties, including the courts, law enforcement, and other social service providers, to increase victim safety and access to resources.
· Effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate in a timely manner with other advocates to ensure victims are best served.
· Create a culture of empowerment and trauma-informed service delivery.
· Participate in organizational meetings and other functions, as needed.
· Assist with outreach efforts and community education to ensure information is readily available and accessible to victims.
· Participate in professional development opportunities pertinent to the position.
· Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Baccalaureate degree in related field preferred; experience working with victims and/or in social services; ability to work directly in Geary and Clay counties, including any travel to and from as needed; ability to relate to diverse individuals and groups in a non-judgmental manner; ability to work with people from underserved or traditionally underserved communities; ability to handle and manage stress; ability to handle emergency or crisis situations; ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to identify and respond to the needs and concerns of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; ability to be flexible; ability to work independently and as a team; ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred; residence in Geary County preferred. Must be able to pass criminal background check. Each staff member of The Crisis Center, Inc. must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and insurance at all times, and be capable of lifting and carrying 30 pounds. Must be able to pass criminal and child abuse background check.
