CRISTO REY COMMUNITY CENTER is Hiring a Community Kitchen Supervisor Near Lansing, MI
Position
The Community Kitchen Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of the Community Kitchen, including meal preparation, food transportation and distribution, supervising volunteers and staff, ordering supplies, equipment maintenance and sanitation, and preparation of monthly reports.
Responsibilities
Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for volunteers and staff; train and supervise volunteers and staff to support the welcoming environment
Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of meals
Ensure the Community Kitchen and dining area are clean and sanitary
Ensure all Community Kitchen food handling is in accordance with ServSafe standards
Assist Community Services Manager with the development of menus using a variety of food items based on the available resources
Manage orders with the Greater Lansing Food Bank and other local vendors
Stock and maintain appropriate food and supplies
Maintain all Community Kitchen equipment
Assist with the collection and recording of data pertaining to food statistics
Provide direct supervision to Kitchen Lead, Kitchen Assistants, volunteers and other personnel assigned to the Community Kitchen
Attend meetings as directed
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
ServSafe Manager certified, or ability to be certified within 30 days
“People person” willing to serve community members in vulnerable situations, including but not limited to individuals who are homeless, refugees, and immigrants
Motivated self-starter with a high level of integrity
Proficient in Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and Excel
Accurate and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
At least two (2) years experience directly related to the operation of a commercial kitchen
