Responsibilities

We are seeking a mission-focused NOC Tier II Network Administrator to contribute to our government customer’s success in Washington, DC!

This position supports a communication system for the Defense Intelligence Enterprise across its CONUS & OCONUS operating locations. It is an exciting program providing Engineering and Operations support. It will be the design, transition, operations, and continual service improvement to include tech modernization, tech refresh, or Capital Equipment Replacement Program (CERP) activities associated with the clients’ LANs, CAN, and Unified Communication (Voice, Video, and data) on multiple classified networks.

As a Tier 2 Network Administrator, you will be challenged with enterprise support problems where you will coordinate with other NOC and Operational staff to address break fix, minor configuration update, schedule add moves and changes and technology upgrades and installs for Network routers and switches. You will be expected as one of experienced Network team members to coordinate ticket acceptance and resolutions. You will support the development of technical resolution reports for critical outages in the Network. 

Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Perform System patching and IAVA patches to network routers and switches
  • Performing IOS and Software upgrades

  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for network operations

  • Troubleshooting systems failures and accessibility problems within the Network to our services

  • Monitor network performance, track usage, and develop capacity planning reports

  • Making recommendations that enhance operational efficiencies for network monitoring, management, and overall operations

    • Uses experience and knowledge articles to understand/implement potential workarounds

    • Updates knowledge articles and handles "how to" questions

    • Support KM management by entering solutions into the Solutions database.

  • Support engineering design data calls
  • Support new/enhanced network implementation, installation, and technical refresh projects within a site or locale
  • Perform Network ticket resolution
    • Completes initial categorization of Service Requests (type, sub-type, location device, priority, etc.)
    • Support Network ticket closure across Network OPS staff to include:
    • Use administrative access to the Network to provision new switches, routers, VLANs, and Krypto
    • Uses administrative access to network components to research errors, incidents, and problems, perform incident analysis, and identify potential issues
    • Routing Service Requests to the appropriate organization required for incident resolution 
    • Performs root cause analyses
    • Completes problem resolutions associated with the incident ticket(s)
  • May configure, deploy, manage, and maintain Network monitoring systems used by the technicians to ensure availability and overall performance of system and services

Qualifications

Required Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies:

  • An active TS/SCI with CI polygraph

  • Years of experience with one of the following:

    • High School/GED plus eleven (11) years of relevant experience

    • Associate degree plus nine (9) years of relevant experience
    • Bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years of relevant experience
    • Master's degree plus five (5) years of relevant experience 
  • DoD 8140 certification: Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II
  • Excellent customer interface, writing and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of LAN/WAN and Unified Communication (UC) technology, tools and services
  • Demonstrated experience providing Tier 2 support
  • Willing and able to work the night shift

Preferred Experience, Education, Skills & Technologies

  • Network Operations Center (NOC) experience

Security Clearance Level:

  • TS/SCI with CI polygraph

Certification:

  • DoD 8140 certification: Information Assurance Technical (IAT) II

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time on-site
  • Night shift, Wednesday - Saturday, 2200 to 0800 (10:00 pm to 8:00 am)
  • Local travel may be required at times
