Our client, a major chemical manufacturer, is looking for a contract Construction Supervisor to join the team at their site in Geismar, LA.

THIS IS A LONG-TERM CONTRACT POSITION WITH A PAY RATE OF $35.93/HOUR (BENEFITS ARE AVAILABLE)

Job Opportunity: Construction Project Representative

Join a dynamic team and represent the company in overseeing a range of construction projects. You will play a crucial role in shaping construction strategies, schedules, and ensuring seamless coordination between our project team and contractors. Your primary focus will be on maintaining safety, quality, schedule, cost, and compliance on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main liaison between our company and construction contractors, project teams, operations, and engineering groups, focusing on installation, execution, and resolving field issues.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation during design, contract development, and construction phases.
  • Coordinate site visits, interpret bid specifications, and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Ensure a safe worksite, proactively preventing accidents and injuries, and conduct incident investigations if necessary.
  • Monitor contractors to ensure understanding of scope and minimize claims, seeking cost-effective solutions.
  • Inspect construction work regularly to maintain job schedules, safety standards, and compliance with design specifications.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and labor meet contract requirements.
  • Document field activities and produce necessary reports weekly and monthly.
  • Oversee duties of other construction engineers or contract inspectors.
  • Support the project team in reviewing and authorizing field changes.
  • Verify and approve invoices for accuracy and recommend payment approvals.

Additional Information:

  • Oversee capital projects up to $5M, primarily under $1M, including mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation projects.
  • Act as the main contact for field activities, supporting the project engineer and answering craftsperson queries.
  • Provide constructability input and participate in construction bidding processes.
  • Support the IEC construction manager for a $16M DCS upgrade, focusing on control room modernization construction.
  • Travel may be up to 75%, primarily to support linked sites.

Schedule:

  • Typical hours: Monday-Thursday, 6 am to 4 pm, with some projects requiring flexibility.
  • Most routine jobs follow a 4-10s schedule with a fatigue day on the 14th day. Outage maintenance windows are generally 2 weeks or less, offering flexibility when not in the execution phase.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Construction Management or Engineering Technology required; BS degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of combined experience as a construction manager.
  • Knowledge of methods, procedures, materials, equipment, and safety practices in mechanical material fabrication, installation, and testing.
  • Experience in technical inspections and start-up/testing operations for mechanical components/systems.
  • Strong safety background with knowledge of OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to interact at multiple organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in project execution and technical expertise in mechanical equipment installation, pipe fitting, or HVAC.
