Assistant Teacher Grades 52024 - 2025100% FTE, 37.5 hours per week Non-exempt under FLSA Assistant Teacher responsibilities: Assist homeroom teacher in all daily chores including correcting work, helping keep the room clean, copying, gathering materials, and other classroom duties Staff, with homeroom teachers, all homeroom responsibilities including recess & lunch duties Provide teaching assistance to maximize instruction as directed by the homeroom teacher (small group work, one on one support, etc.) Provide support in other lower classrooms as needed Assist in co-curricular classes (as assigned) Substitute for homeroom teachers as needed Potentially transition with the class to Grade 6 Set and achieve annual professional development goals with Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs Assist with divisional and school-wide events when possible Respond to email, voicemail, and all mail/messages in a timely fashion Other duties as may be assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Develop and maintain proficiency in computer skills including PowerSchool, Google, Word documents Effectively communicate orally and in writing Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Be creative and energetic Maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with all students and school community members Maintain appropriate confidentiality Ability to frequently sit, stand, stoop, bend, and move throughout the room and campus Pass a state and federal background check
