Job SummaryThe Lead Behavioral Support Professional is responsible for assisting in daily living tasks, personal care, and support, and ensuring the personal safety and welfare of individuals with intellectual disability, mental illness, and/or challenging behavior in a residential setting. The LBSP will be responsible for supervising and managing a staff of Behavior Support Professionals.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Behavioral Support Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of Behavioral Support Professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients.
Job SummaryThe Lead Behavioral Support Professional is responsible for assisting in daily living tasks, personal care, and support, and ensuring the personal safety and welfare of individuals with intellectual disability, mental illness, and/or challenging behavior in a residential setting. The LBSP will be responsible for supervising and managing a staff of Behavior Support Professionals.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and implementation of the person’s individual program plan (IPP), individual service plan (ISP), and behavior intervention plan (BIP).
- Provide education and training to direct reports for completion and understanding of duties outlined in the person’s IPP, ISP, and BIP.
- Abide by HCBS guidelines and indicated in the HCBS manual.
- Models and uses good decision-making skills and accesses appropriate resources to develop quality services.
- Support the needs and goals of each client by taking them to medical appointments, to visit family and friends, to preferred leisure/recreational activities, and encouraging them to socialize with their peers.
- Maintain open communication with Supported Community Living Manager to inform team members on client progress with goals, medical and/or social needs.
- Collaborate and communicate with family members, caretakers, neighbors, case workers, and other involved individuals.
- Maintain records of medical and dental visits, current medications, illnesses, injuries, and special needs.
- Order prescriptions and non-prescription medications for clients, if needed.
- Check in medications from pharmacy and administer medication, First Aid, and/or CPR if necessary.
- Transport clients to and from medical appointments and outings around the community as needed.
- Manage client funds by ensuring receipts are recorded, filed, and maintained in a timely fashion.
- Implement approved emergency procedures in the event of a fire or natural disasters.
- Ensure other BSP colleagues complete assigned tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED is required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors of individuals with intellectual disability
- Experience in providing leadership and supervision to staff is preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
