The dispensing nurse supervisor oversees a small team in the unit. The main task of this position is to measure and dispense methadone and other medications according to doctor orders and in compliance with FDA, DEA, and DBH regulations. This position is also responsible for ensuring proper maintenance of medical records and other documents within the OTP clinic and program.

All positions require pre-employment drug screening and background checks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for ordering, receipt, dispensing, and record-keeping medication according to applicable rules and regulations. Coordinating with program supervisors and counselors supports patient treatment, ensuring all medication is dispensed adequately following physician’s orders.

Responsible for dosing and documenting all methadone doses within scheduled clinic hours.

Report inconsistencies and problems regarding handling controlled substances to the Agency SUD Director.

Scheduling and supervision of assigned staff.

Provide direction and support to assigned staff.

Maintains a clean, safe work area and immediately reports potential hazards to the supervisor and other appropriate personnel.

Complies with communicable disease procedures when performing phlebotomy for HIV testing.

Observe patients for urinalysis as needed.

Qualifications

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A small team at the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

LPN license from the State of Colorado and multistate with some classes in a human service area such as psychology.

Experience:

Prefer prior experience in the field.

Other:

Knowledge of applicable laws regarding medication dispensing, storage, and accountability.

Works in a methadone dispensing clinic.
