Crossroads Utility Services is Hiring a Vice President of Maintenance Services Near Round Rock, TX

Crossroads Utility Services, LLC is seeking a water and wastewater industry leader as Vice President of Maintenance Services to lead its maintenance division within Crossroads’ portfolio of operations and maintenance utility contracts in the Greater Austin-area.

Job Description

The Vice President of Maintenance Services (VPM) is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of water and wastewater utility maintenance services for utilities in the Austin area. The VPM will provide leadership and direction for the maintenance division for Crossroads including acting as lead person responsible for maintenance activities. In addition, the VPM will represent Crossroads with outside engineers, attorneys, municipal utility district clients, oversee the delivery of contract utility services by Crossroads’ staff, and provide general utility client relations as necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal VPM candidate will possess:

· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;

· The ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines;

· A self-driven work ethic needing minimal supervision to complete assigned work;

· Direct industry knowledge of water and wastewater utility operations, maintenance, utility billing, meter reading, utility engineering principles, and customer service in municipal environments;

· General knowledge of financial management, utility budgeting, and accounting principles;

· Experience presenting utility maintenance items related information to municipal clients and the general public;

· Experience managing excavation;

· Experience in USDOT regulations and management of equipment;

· Experience leading excavation and repair teams and communicating a safety culture and employee objectives in a clear and concise written and verbal manner.

· EPA / TCEQ certification in water and wastewater utility operations in Texas or an equivalent licensing in another State with the ability to successfully transfer certification to Texas if necessary – is preferred

· A proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite; and

· A valid driver's license

Education

· High School diploma with 10-15 years of progressively responsible utility maintenance supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and

· BA/BS degree with 5-10 years of related utility management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

· (preferred) A graduate degree in public administration or business administration is preferred

Preferred Experience

The VPM candidate will have experience:

· Assuming direct supervisory responsibility for municipal water and wastewater utility maintenance for a large water or wastewater utility or City (over 20,000 connections);

· Complying with all EPA, NPDES, TCEQ, OSHA, DOT, and TDSHS rules and regulations pertaining to water and wastewater distribution and collection system maintenance;

· Formulating strategies and coordinating execution and implementation of multiple utility projects with internal staff and/or outside consultants and contractors;

· Making recommendations to foreman, drivers, field supervisors on utility projects, staffing levels, human resources policies, utility repairs and maintenance, subcontractor agreements, supplies, materials, and vendor selection;

· Performing personnel evaluations/actions including hiring, training, and establishing employee training goals and objectives for a utility;

· Performing regular inspections of client utility systems and maintenance and makes recommendations to internal staff and utility consultants for corrective action;

· Reviewing the efficiencies of field staff utilization;

· Optimizing utility maintenance duties and schedules for a large utility;

· Maintaining a solid and consistent track record of company/utility and OSHA and DOT safety initiatives and experience with an ongoing safety training and recordkeeping;

· Acting as DER for company FMCSA programs;

· Maintaining heavy machinery, excavation equipment, trailers, dump trucks and HD vehicles,

· Meeting and coordinating with operations and maintenance staff, clients, utility boards, attorneys, customers, and/or engineers to discuss utility issues, utility regulations and utility construction, and providing updates to senior staff within assigned areas;

· Assisting with utility project management and field supervision of repairs and maintenance as needed;

· Composing and delivering monthly reports for utility clients and senior staff;

· Informing supervisors and contract utility managers of utility hazards, public health issues, or problem areas within the company or utility;

· Compiling and reviewing compliance documentation from the DOT, EPA, TDSHS, and TCEQ;

· Making presentations to boards, commissions, city councils, or community association meetings as requested;

· Working with internal and external technical staff to communicate utility-related issues to client board members and outside consultants;

· Adhering to all state, federal, and company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions; and

· Working on other duties as assigned

Special Job Requirements

The duties for the position include physical skills: the Ability to walk, stand, sit, exposure to the elements in hot or cold environments, the candidates ability to lift 50 lbs, the ability to travel to client sites for work. Reasonable accommodations can be applied.
