JOB TITLE: Cardiac Sonography Program Director/Instructor

Position Summary
As program director, this position is responsible for all aspects of the Cardiac Sonography program, including
the budget, faculty hiring decisions, maintaining accreditation, providing subject matter expertise, curriculum
development, instruction, and program evaluation to determine the effectiveness of education. Course
delivery may include both face-to-face and online modalities. The Program Director is a full-time faculty
member and reports to the Director of Allied Health.
Essential Job Duties
- Responsible for all aspects of the Cardiac Sonography program, including the organization,
program and the program budget.
- Participates in faculty hiring decisions and facilitates faculty meetings per institutional requirements.
- Administers and leads Program Advisory Committee meetings.
- Maintains Cardiac Sonography program accreditation, including compiling accreditation reports.
- Facilitates a student assessment and program evaluation program to determine the effectiveness of
instruction and student achievement. Remains current with developments in the scholarship of teaching.
Uses the latest supportive instructional technology and alternative delivery methods
- Maintains knowledge of current industry trends by attending conferences, joining professional
- Prepares for assigned classes, including developing course syllabi in Canvas; organizing and maintaining
at those sites; maintains and updates existing course curriculum to meet required accreditation
standards.
- Performs institutional requirements, including participating in events and meetings as required;
- Assures faculty and agency preceptors are included in ongoing program planning and evaluation, per
- Encourages student inclusion and engagement by incorporating student correspondence, student
- Mediates student grievances/complaints at the program level.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to recruit students. Markets the Surgical
- Performs other related duties and non-instructional activities as assigned.
- Serve on institutional committees as needed.
- Do faculty evaluations within prescribed guidelines.
- Perform departmental and divisional responsibilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A Bachelor’s Degree and equivalent work experience in Cardiac Sonography.
- Five years of relevant experience.
- Possess a credential in the field of Advanced Cardiac Sonography (ACS)
- Willingness to teach or learn to teach online.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals,
staff, and the public.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Two years of teaching experience in a higher education environment preferred.
- Curriculum development and instruction
- Experience in Cardiac Sonography accreditation procedures
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and alternate instructional delivery systems
- Knowledge of a learning management system (such as Canvas)
- Master’s degree in a Health-Related field of study from a regionally accredited college/university

• Information Technology Abilities required:
a. Ability to operate a personal computer using the Windows environment.
b. Ability to understand operating a personal computer within the Crowder College Network
environment.
c. Ability to use E-mail.
d. Ability to perform primary student database (Jenzabar) functions.
e. Ability to perform basic word processing using MS Word.
f. Ability to perform essential spreadsheet functions using MS Excel
g. Ability to perform introductory presentation functions using MS PowerPoint
h. Ability to use Canvas
