Engineering Intern-USA
Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineering Intern provides support and solutions by leveraging general knowledge of design principles and manufacturing processes to refine product design and increase plant efficiencies, while meeting goals related to safety, quality, and production.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include But Are Not Limited To)
  • Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of systems and procedures that aid in the manufacturing of MVE products while adhering to and promoting strict safety and quality guidelines
  • Monitor production processes and work with production personnel to advise on standard work procedures, enhance flow, and implement Lean concepts (e.g. 5S, Visual Work, Kanban) throughout the plant
  • Analyze workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Work closely with team members to identify and eliminate waste activities, following PDCA methodology
  • Conduct and supervise studies to determine the cause, effect, and corrective actions required to remedy product quality deviations
  • Partner with production, engineering, and maintenance departments and apply formal problem solving tools (e.g. 5 Why’s, 8D, Ishikawa diagram) to resolve assembly errors and eliminate variances
  • Partner with the Design Engineering group to ensure that all aspects of new product introduction and changes to existing products are properly communicated to stakeholders, including production personnel
  • Perform qualification and validation procedures for newly introduced equipment and processes
  • Design and draw, in SolidWorks, machine tools and fixtures to be used in the production process
  • Perform routine design updates to legacy product
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

  • Understanding of MIG/TIG welding practices, sheet metal fabrication, and vacuum systems, a plus
  • Familiarity with medical device manufacturing, including working knowledge of industry-specific regulatory policies (e.g. ISO 13485, MDD 93/42/EEC), a plus
  • Familiarity with principles of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and cryogenics, a plus
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical process control, a plus
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Enrollment in a 4-year BS degree program in Engineering, preferably Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial
