DIRECTOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
CMIT is looking for an experienced and motivated Director Business Development to support our business development efforts. The Director Business Development will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic business relationships, and overseeing the implementation of business strategies.
Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in driving business growth and development. This role requires a blend of business acumen, relationship building, strategic planning, tenacity, and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends, including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services, or new ways of reaching existing markets
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the strategic business development plan
  • Initiate and manage business partnerships and alliances, negotiate contracts and close business deals
  • Evaluate win probability using capture and bid/no bid criteria methodology for proposal opportunities and qualify pursuits aligned with company capabilities and mission scope
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align company goals and strategies
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders to include contractor and government small business liaisons and other business partners
  • Prepare and present business proposals and pitches to potential partners and clients
  • Analyze the company's competitive landscape and market trends to forecast business goals
  • Collaborate with recruiting to select candidates with opportunity centric knowledge to lend to pursuit capture activities
  • Conduct independent research through small business channels to identify opportunities and relationships to begin pursuing
  • Participate in review and negotiation of teaming agreements, subcontracts, and suppliers and work with legal counsel as required
  • Advise about the factors affecting the prices or conditions of business agreements to meet company priorities and report any unresolved issues to leadership
  • Facilitate contract review and sign-off processes, acting as a central point of contact who can identify any potential concerns and assist leadership navigate any disputes that may arise
  • Monitor projects to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions to ensure compliance and enable the business to adhere to budgets and prevent risks
  • Determine and track budgets, conditions and timelines of projects for the most profitable and low-risk version of a contract
  • Report on successes and areas of business development or contracts administration needing improvements to the leadership team
Education/Certifications Required
  • BS/BA in Business Administration or relevant field.
  • Project Management certification a plus
  • Shipley certification a plus
Qualifications Required
  • Proven experience in leading Business Development initiatives or similar role
  • Understanding of the Shipley business development approach
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and partners
  • Understanding of market research methods and analysis
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Commercial awareness with a strategic mindset
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills
  • Familiarity with Technomile (Salesforce) or similar CRM or business development management tools a plus
Clearance Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
