Buxmont Academy has six campuses in southeastern PA and uses restorative practices to encourage students to grow academically and emotionally. Our teachers, counselors, and support staff work together to build a healthy community environment for our students.
Primary responsibilities for the special education teacher position include providing 1-on-1 and small group tutoring to students grades 7-12, creating and monitoring Individual Education Plans (IEP), and conducting IEP meetings.
Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree or higher level of education, and either PA special education certification or the ability to obtain certification.We welcome qualified candidates who are interested in becoming teachers. We also welcome retired teachers who miss being in the classroom!
Required Skills/Abilities
- Desire to teach secondary school-aged students and ability to adapt to their developmental status.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high stress situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The capacity to work effectively both independently and with a team.
- Proficient computer skills.
Qualified candidates will possess satisfactory State Criminal Record Check, State Child Abuse and FBI checks.
Salary: $42000 per year

Community Service Foundation (CSF) and Buxmont Academy are dedicated to providing education, counseling, foster care and other services to help young people and their families to grow and change through restorative practices. Community Service Foundation & Buxmont Academy provide programs for troubled and at-risk youth in eastern Pennsylvania. Our approach to working with youth is based on restorative practices, which helps students learn and grow behaviorally and emotionally as well as academically. Counseling focuses on helping teens take responsibility for their choices and behavior. Emphasis is on supporting personal growth and change, balanced with structure and accountability. The staff maintains communication with parents and professionals so that all of the adults in the teenagers life are cooperating in support of the same goals.
