Job DetailsJob Summary: Manages the Business Development functions for Platform Communications, focusing primarily on identifying, evaluating, and pursuing business opportunities. Performs duties that identify, advocate, and pursue business development opportunities/strategies related to the promotion and sale of DTECH Mission Solutions systems and products or related technologies, to industrial corporations, U.S. or Foreign Government agency customers. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assists the Vice President/GM and BD Senior Director in developing business development objectives and plans for Platform Communications goal achievement.
  • Assists in the development of objectives, policies, and programs for marketing and sales activities.
  • Identifies market opportunities based on budgetary documents, helps determine the feasibility of business development activities, identifies new or improved product opportunities, and coordinates with senior BU leadership in establishing and monitoring business development projects.
  • Develop current-year commitments, future-year forecasts, and pipelines per BU strategic plans.
  • Develops and disseminates information continuously to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and evaluates technologies and organizational relationships that are beneficial to the business unit. Presents these opportunities to senior management and acts upon their recommendations.
  • Coordinates development of the strategic business plan.
  • Directs the research and analysis of business opportunities, assessing potential and development of opportunities with account managers.
  • Provides marketing advice and guidance to ensure overall marketing effectiveness. Develops a business area advertising plan.
  • Develop accurate discretionary resource requirements.
  • Prepares strategic plan for the business area focused on platform communications.
  • May supervise Business Development Managers.
  • May conduct a continuing assessment of the account manager’s performance, compared with plans.
  • Identifies, investigates, and evaluates acquisitions, licensing opportunities, and strategic business alliances that are in line with the Company’s long-range goals.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent, in business, finance, marketing or related field, plus a minimum of fifteen years related experience.
  • MBA degree highly desirable.
  • Business experience related to Cubic products and markets preferred.
  • Broad business experience evaluating markets and business opportunities.
  • Prior experience managing professional associates in a complex environment requiring the integration of cross-functional responses.
  • Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to organize, plan and execute contracts, agreements and strategic purchase orders.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills in order to interact in extremely delicate, sensitive and/or complex situations dealing with U.S. and foreign agencies and commercial customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and work under tight deadlines.
