Description
Security Officer
As a hospital security officer, you protect staff, patients, and visitors and ensure that all hospital property is secure. The Security Offer is responsible for policing hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
Responsibilities:
- Patrol the building and its grounds, monitor all activity in and out of the hospital, and endeavor to prevent vandalism, theft, fire, and disturbances within the facility
- You frequently report to your manager or other security personnel about what you have observed on your rounds
- Assists staff with unruly visitors and patients, alleviates plant safety and environmental conditions.
- You must be on the lookout for all sorts of issues at the hospital, including maintenance issues, which may compromise people's safety or the integrity of the building.
- Checks exterior lighting and access routes to emergency and fire entrances
- Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or telephones police for assistance, according to circumstances
- Answers visitor's questions concerning locations of various offices, rooms, and other areas within the hospital
- Demonstrates and encourages team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
- Upholds and promotes patient safety and quality.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Ability to speak read and write English and follow written and oral instructions
- Up to 3 months on-the-job training to learn location of safety and plant equipment
- Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license with a clean DMV record
- Be aware frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May stand for up to 8 hours a day, walks and climb stairs, while on duty.
