Job: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Program Manager, Part-Time, San Jose (Hybrid)

Commitment: 25-34 hours per week; average 30 hours

Job description: The program manager will lead and implement Cultivating Literacy’s early readers’ programs. They will play a significant role in helping the organization reach families of young readers and expand its audience. The program manager will work closely with the Executive Director to manage and develop Cultivating Literacy’s programs.

Responsibilities:

The program manager has the following responsibilities and duties:

• Leading parent workshops on early literacy strategies at local school sites in the Santa Clara County area
• Supporting children and families through reading coaching in English and Spanish
• Performing reading assessments at school sites and gathering data
• Developing early reading curriculum (frameworks and support will be provided)
• Assisting the executive director to further develop and expand programs
• Providing individualized literacy support to families of young readers
• Managing small teams of contractors and volunteers

Requirements:

The program manager should have the following skills, education, and experience:

• Bilingual, Spanish/ English
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in education)
• Classroom experience; good repertoire with students and families served
• Familiarity with early reading foundations such as phonics, phonological awareness, and comprehension
• Experience in a leadership role (for example, guiding parents, teachers, co-workers, training others, etc)
• Comfortable speaking in front of small to medium-sized groups
• Enjoys innovative work, creating additions to our current program model, and executing
• Utilizes and gives feedback to promote self-growth and development
• Experience using Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc)

Our early literacy and family programs include our Dual-Language Individualized Literacy Plans and family literacy workshops.

Dual-Language Individualized Literacy Plan Program: Designed to help 4-7-year-old children who need further instruction and practice in reading. Children undergo a reading assessment, and results are used to craft a custom 9-week reading plan. Parents implement the plan with their children while a reading coach guides them throughout their journey. At the end of the program, children exhibit growth in early literacy skills and confidence, while parents express feeling further agencyin supporting their child’s reading.

Compensation:

• $45k- $65k salary
• Flexible hours and schedule (hybrid)
• Holidays and PTO, additional flexible holiday breaks based on the school year
