DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Position Description: Culver-Stockton College is seeking a strategic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Human Resources Department, ensuring the effective delivery of HR services, and fostering a positive work environment that supports the College’s mission and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and guidelines regarding employment activities and promotes diversity.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the College’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
  • Provides excellent counsel to the President and CFO on sensitive personnel or employment issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of higher education and human resources trends and employment legislation and ensures the College’s compliance.
  • Maintains responsibility for the College’s compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CFO, on personnel matters and represents the College as needed in litigation cases.
  • Work directly with supervisors of all levels to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Responsible for writing all employment appointment letters and contracts and revisions or renewals as needed.
  • Responsible for personnel interventions (developmental, disciplinary, termination) and provides support to supervisors on recommended human resource-related actions.
  • Maintains and evaluates the budget for the human resources functional area.
  • Develop and maintain relationships that foster the recruitment of top talent and develop and maintain guidelines for the employment selection process.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of job descriptions and job classification system.
  • Handles all workers compensation issues and claims, including OSHA reporting and investigations as necessary.
  • Processes Exempt payroll and oversees hourly and student payroll. Responsible for 1095C and W2 preparations and filings.

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in an area related to human relations, business administration, or related field is preferred; a Bachelor’s Degree in one of these areas is required.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated experience in human resources preferred.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills, advanced written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to details.
  • An advanced level of knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) is required.
  • Must possess an understanding and enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Culver-Stockton College
  • Must exhibit the highest professional integrity and ability to work confidentially with discretion.
