TITLE: Technology Technician II
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in a related field preferred. Minimum of eighteen months of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong ability to systematically troubleshoot technology devices. Effective communication skills with users. Extensive knowledge of computers and related technologies. General understanding of local area networks components.

REPORTS TO: Instructional Technology Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To support and maintain both administrative and instructional computers, software, and networks, including repair of all technology-related equipment, requiring emphasis on building-level support and more specialized knowledge of computer hardware, software, and computer networks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides on-site assistance in classrooms, media centers, computer labs, and administrative offices.
Identifies problems and takes appropriate corrective action.
Installs and upgrades all technology-related equipment in network and stand-alone environments.
Performs installation and upgrades to hardware, software, and related peripherals.
Provides first response support from the system level for the maintenance and operation of computers, software, and networks at the building level.
Provides maintenance for multiple sites.
Ensures the maintenance of all computers, software, local area networks by monitoring performance.
Refers complex problems to Lead Technicians.
Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computers and other technology-related equipment.
Attends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment and operating systems.
Possesses an understanding of mechanical, electronic, and computer principles as applied to the repair and maintenance of computers and peripherals.
Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
