ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1.Provides orientation in the use of the library and its resources.2. Teaches Cumberland's STEM curriculum. STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through STEM, students develop key skills including: problem solving.
creativity. critical analysis.3.Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new library materials.4.Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials.5.Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library may acquire.6.Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials, and instructs teachers and students on use of the system.7.Arranges for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use to teachers.8.Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities. 9.Helps students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of reference materials in relation to planned assignments.10.Presents and discusses materials with a class studying a particular topic, on the invitation of the teacher.11.Arranges frequently changing book related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library's patrons.12. Prepares and administers the library budget.13..Supervises library clerk in the performance of duties, as assigned.14.Coordinates use and assignment of Audio Visual equipment, maintained by the library.15.Make teachers and students aware of updated information technologies.16.Attends department meetings and faculty meetings, as scheduled.17.Assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.18.Keeps current with advances and technology in his/her field.
