The Cost Accounting Manager position is responsible for all aspects of Manufacturing and Production costing analysis and inventory for all business locations. The Cost Accounting Manager will support the Senior Director of Operations Finance in ensuring accurate product costing, ownership and analysis of monthly variance capitalization, and management of monthly cost account reconciliations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain cost accounting system that ensures accurate costing
2. Review and analyze standard and actual costs for variances and prepare reports
3. Own and manage the annual Standard Cost Roll to update system costs
4. Responsible for the maintenance, budgeting, and communication of the variance capitalization and amortization process
5. Work with logistics team to properly record and budget inbound and outbound freight costs on a monthly basis
6. Lead study and data collection to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor
7. Responsible for driving account reconciliation process for inventory and purchasing accrual accounts
8. Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation, analyzing inventory for risk, and monitoring with support from internal stakeholders
9. In conjunction with Senior Director of Operations Finance, lead the standardization of costing methodology across manufacturing facilities
10. Assist in month-end and year-end closing by analyzing inventory and preparing supplemental reports as needed; including preparation of ad-hoc reports in response to questions regarding costs and profitability
11. Respond to year-end audit requests for inventory and product cost testing
12. Work on special projects as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and six (6) to eight (8) years of manufacturing cost accounting experience is preferred. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required:
1. Proficiency in Excel, experience in manipulating large databases
2. Significant hands-on experience using COPA module of SAP ERP system (S4 HANA a plus)
3. Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory and cost accounting
4. Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required
5. Experience in driving Standard Cost Roll process and communicating potential impacts of cost changes
6. Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
7. Extraordinary interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with other departments.
8. Must be a team player who also works well independently.
9. Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results, and make recommendations.
