THIS ROLE:
The Welder Fitter will work directly with the Shipyard Superintendent on leading the welding team in support of Curtin Maritime shipyard projects. Welder Fitter will be responsible for set-up, and laying out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify, or fabricate parts and/or equipment products. The welder/fitter must utilize welding equipment to complete work per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule in the shipyard. To achieve this, the Welder Fitter must be able to operate and /or use related equipment and tools which include stick, wire feed, TIG, forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable & Bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, a tape measure, etc.. This role must maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures rules, and regulations.
