Job DescriptionThis is a Controls Engineer position open in Orlando, FL. This position is responsible for electrical/controls engineering on large-scale projects. Project requirements involve control system design from scratch (hardware/software/network), electrical panel design and power calculations, risk assessment, component selection and configuration, control system programming, and control system installation/commissioning. Responsibilities
Design electrical/control components based on project requirements from concept to completion.
Perform design work using drafting software (AutoCAD preferred).
Provide input and make modifications for system integration with other project disciplines.
Interface with facility design to optimize panel location, minimize voltage drop, and design an efficient system hardware layout.
Manage vendor scope to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with all contract requirements.
Ensure designs comply with local and government agency codes and standards.
Generate technical risk assessment documents and implement mitigation strategies.
Design and analyze safety-critical parts within a control system.
Develop redundant mitigations to enhance system safety and reliability.
Design systems with complex motion and integration for automated systems.
Create documents of system configuration and design, including descriptions of operation, detailed control system design descriptions, panel assembly drawings and schematics, termination drawings, network layouts, system implementation/acceptance test plans, and routine maintenance/job plans.
Perform system design calculations/analysis, including short circuit protection, harmonics, noise reduction/cancellation, power consumption, load flow, protective relay/circuit design, ground fault monitoring, and safety system implementation (knowledge of SIL/PL rating preferred).
Preferred knowledge of ride system design for attractions involving guests.
Capable of working off shifts as needed during installation/commissioning to support the project.
Qualifications
5 years of experience covering most responsibilities listed above.
Must be organised, technically competent, have effective oral and written communication skills, and be experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Bachelor’s degrees in other disciplines may be acceptable if work experience is directly related to electrical engineering. Disciplines outside of the electrical/controls area will not be considered).
Preferred experience in ASTM standards, attractions industry, and safety engineering.
