Summary-The Director of Medical Staff Services provides leadership and operational supervision for the department. They collaborate closely with the Regional Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff Leaders to plan, organise, and oversee programs and activities. The director ensures alignment with Medical Staff strategies, achievement of goals and plans, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards relevant to the Medical Staff. Key administrative relationships involve the Administration and Quality Management Department. Roles & Responsibilities-
Collaborates closely with credentialing specialists to resolve issues and document concerns related to initial and reappointment applications.
Conducts thorough audits on all initial and recredentialing applications. Monitors reappointments to ensure compliance with standards, including The Joint Commission's 24-month requirement and NCQA's 36-month requirement.
In the absence of the Director, provides expertise and collaborates with the IT Department on e-prescribe, the 340-B Program, system access for medical staff (CSARs), and support for medical record suspension.
Minimum Qualifications-
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field and CPMSM certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services are mandatory.
Preference for knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and other relevant laws and regulations.
Five (5) years of extensive experience as a Medical Services Professional in a hospital setting.
Managerial experience is necessary. Must possess a solid understanding of Medical Staff Credentialing principles and a thorough knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements, as well as accreditation standards pertinent to the organised medical staff.
