SummaryThe Manager of Medical Staff Services provides leadership, management, and operational oversight to the Medical Staff Services department. This role works collaboratively with the Regional Chief Medical Officer and Medical Staff Leaders to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the programs and activities of the Medical Staff. The goal is to ensure that the strategies of the Medical Staff are supported and attained, goals and plans are realized, and there is adherence to the requirements of relevant regulatory and accreditation bodies. Key administrative departmental relationships include Administration and Quality Management. Roles & Responsibilities
Work closely with credentialing specialists to address concerns and document issues with initial and reappointment applications.
Conduct 100% audits on initial and recredentialing applications.
Monitor reappointments to ensure they do not exceed 24 months, per TJC standards, and/or 36 months, per NCQA standards.
In the absence of the Director, collaborate with the IT Department on issues such as e-prescribe, 340-B Program, system access for medical staff (CSARs), and medical record suspension support.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
CPMSM certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services.
Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and other relevant laws/regulations is highly preferred.
Five (5) years of comprehensive experience as a Medical Services Professional within a hospital setting.
Managerial experience required.
Must have a working knowledge of Medical Staff Credentialing concepts and a comprehensive knowledge base of state/federal regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to the organized medical staff.
