Position SummaryThe Assistant Financial Construction Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects within the company. This role includes managing budgets, overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support project decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of construction accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and senior leadership. Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight and Reporting:
Manage and oversee the financial operations of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Prepare and present financial statements, project performance reports, and variance analysis to senior management.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial information and reports.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Develop, monitor, and update project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with project managers.
Analyze and report on budget variances and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Cost Control and Analysis:
Implement and maintain effective cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within budget.
Conduct regular cost reviews and provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and accounting standards relevant to the construction industry.
Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects.
Process Improvement:
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance financial processes and systems.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide financial guidance and support.
Communicate financial information and insights clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with a focus on the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as ERP systems and Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
Working Conditions
Office-based with occasional travel to construction sites as needed.
Full-time position with standard working hours; additional hours may be required during peak project phases.
