The Assistant Project Manager works alongside the Project Manager to manage the work of our large-scale industrial mechanical projects throughout the Metropolitan Chicago area. - Understanding commercial construction logistics, labor, material, and equipment handling.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications and translate the information to operational realities.
- Understanding of basic business practices, and ability to read and understand construction-related accounting reports.
- Assist in facilitating the installation of mechanical systems.
- Coordinating labor with superintendents, job site foremen, and clients.
- Evaluating quotations.
- Selecting and managing sub-contractors.
- Equipment selection, purchase orders, RFIs, submittals and change orders.
At least 2 years of experience and knowledge of all phases of construction management including:
- History of managing Industrial Mechanical Construction projects in the Chicagoland Market
- Provide clear and articulate direction to team-members
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Experience with pre-construction, estimating RFIs, change orders, and submittals
- Experience with Estimating is a bonus
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Strong administrative skills--the ability to maintain clear notes, keep organized records, and time management
- Knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, P6, and other construction-related software preferred
