Key Responsibilities
- Perform audits of school districts and local governments to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop audit programs and review audit results to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and implement audit plans and risk assessments to ensure all risks are identified and addressed.
- Oversee the preparation of audit reports and provide guidance to audit teams.
- Analyze financial and operational statements to uncover potential areas of fraud or mismanagement.
- Monitor activities to ensure compliance with established internal control procedures.
- Provide technical consultation and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with management and stakeholders to develop innovative and cost-effective strategies to improve operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- At least 5 years of audit experience in a public government environment.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, principles, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of auditors.
