We are currently looking for a Safety Specialist/EHS Lead, or even an HSE manager to manage and lead the Health, Safety, Wellness, and Environmental areas of our facility located about 45 minutes West of the Chicago, IL metro area, near Algonquin, IL.
The HSE Manager will directly be responsible for all Health and Safety matters at the plant which includes interfacing with OSHA, maintaining compliance to OSHA standards and corporate Policies as well as providing training and support to plant personnel.
PLEASE NOTE - This role, while being the SME for all Safety and Environmental challenges/duties, will be leading the HSE/EHS PROJECTS, but no direct reports at this time. This is a hands on role in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
In this role, the person we would like to add to our team, will come in to perform the following:

• The manager is responsible for overall compliance for both Safety and Environmental compliance in the plant.
• The manager will report directly to the local plant manager at the facility.
• The role currently has no direct reports that would report to them at this time but it can possibly change in the future.
• This manager will lead all projects and initiatives when it comes to safety and environmental with support from the local management team.
• Plant has action plans for safety and this person assigns tasks and tracks through completion and reports out on the actions as well as other significant plant and corporate reporting.

Upon joining the team, your role will start with these tasks/initiatives:

• Safety Design Reviews and Management of Change.
• Building safety documents and process and programs for new lines in the business unit.
• Follow established standard work protocols-The site EHS has standard work templates to help guide them through their days, and this role will act at the Subject Matter Expert and will expand plant knowledge.
• They will work to ensure Environmental Compliance reporting is done on time. We have no issues, but this is just part of the early work.

Please Note

• While SAFETY is the KEY component to the role, there will be a need for those with Environmental experience in Air Emissions and Hazardous Waste handling/processing.
• This is a LEADERSHIP role, but it does not hae an direct reports at ths time. This leader will lead all projects and initiatives when it comes to safety and environmental with support from the local management team.

What You Need For This Position

• We are looking for an experienced leader, who can bring with them at least 5 years of hands on work experience in an applicable role, performing in a manufacturing/industrial setting, along with the prerequisite 4 year degree preferred or appropriate safety designations (OSHA 500 & 501 Safety Training, Certified Safety Profession, Industrial Hygiene Sampling Certifications.
• Industry specific would from the packaging or printing industry would be good but not a necessity, but overall, the role is a match for a strong industrial/manufacturing candidate that will be able to manage the Safety and Envinronmental tasks.
• Strong communication skills, including interpersonal and documentation skills, along with an ability to train, motivate and a persuasive yet information sharing nature and ability will success in this role, along with a personal level of integrity, credibility and a drive for excellence and success.
• Please note: this is one of those jobs that is typically NOT an 8-5 type job: sure, there will be those regular days where it does conform to a regular schedule, but note, some things may need to be done on off hours, weekends from time to time, or when the needs arise.
• We assume that anyone that is a FIT for the role will be used to that being the case, but we wanted to make sure that was put out there.
