Position Overview: Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for providing estimating and project management services on a wide variety of heavy highway, bridge, railroad, heavy civil, and structure construction projects. Duties include preparing bids, overseeing take offs, and coordinating with subcontractors and other stakeholders for successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze construction plans, contracts, and specifications to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Negotiate change orders with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using MS Project, Excel, or other software.
- Conduct pre-bid meetings, bid walks, and post-bid interviews.
- Assist with the management of change orders, daily job walks, and payment applications.
- Provide input on project design, develop detailed scopes of work, and oversee project closeouts.
- Assist with contract administration, including review of subcontract documents.
- Understand and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- 5 years of experience in heavy highway, bridge construction and railroads
- Experience with estimating software
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is a bonus
- Experience with accounting software and ability to track job costs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management software.
- Monitor and manage crew productivity.
- Project bidding experience
- Perform quantity takeoffs and project estimates
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is a bonus
