Position: Lead Custodian

Building: Senior High School

Terms of Employment: 52 Weeks, Monday-Friday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Serves as the primary contact regarding custodial and maintenance issues for the building.

• Provides on the job training and implementation of work improvement procedures for custodians.

• Assists with scheduling, assigning work areas and tasks, and oversees the work of all custodians in the building.

• Ensures that all custodians in the building are performing work in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Completes all phases of required cleaning schedule for the areas assigned within the time provided.

• Knows and understands cleaning procedures for assigned areas.

• Knows, understands, and inspects all building systems.

• Maintains appropriate inventory and organization of all custodial and maintenance supplies.

• Completes annual custodial supply inventory.

• Checks in material received at the building.

• Coordinates with building leadership and other custodians for events and activities.

• Moves furniture and equipment as required for various activities, or as directed.

• Maintains athletic fields.

• Removes snow and operates all snow removal equipment.

• Operates cleaning equipment.

• Operates grounds care equipment and performs all phases of grounds maintenance.

• Cleans and maintains custodial equipment.

• Reports equipment and system malfunctions to supervisor.

• Operates and maintains the high school pool.

• Changes HVAC filters.

• Follows safety procedures and monitors the work environment for safety concerns.

• Accepts responsibility for the general security of the building.

• Assists other custodians as needed.

• Trains and directs student custodians.

• Creates and implements summer cleaning schedule.

• Sets up new equipment and furniture.

• Inspects roofs and makes minor repairs.

• Replaces glass.

• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT IT TAKES:

• Custodial experience.

• Training and experience in building maintenance preferred.

• Previous supervisory experience with demonstrated goal achievement and application of creative solutions to problem solving preferred.

• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems.

• Demonstrated ability to make proper decisions in determining work priorities and assignments and the /ability to assign these tasks to other custodians.

• Must be cooperative, able to work effectively with employees, students, leadership, and the public.

• Must be well organized and carry out responsibilities with minimal direction and supervision.

• Ability to organize tasks, manage time, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Ability to routinely lift up to 60 lbs. and occasionally over 60 lbs.

• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and walk for long periods of time.

• Ability to push, pull, and crouch on a regular basis.

• Ability to attain CPO Certification or have CPO (Certified Pool/Spa Operator).

• Strong mechanical background.

WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE:

• $23.00 per hour.
