Position Overview

This position is responsible for participating in month-end close, preparing and distributing the firm’s monthly financial reports, processing journal entries, preparing account reconciliations and other accounting functions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and conducts research on current accounting guidelines. Possesses experience applying these policies, procedures, and research to work.
• Prepares the firm’s monthly financial reports, including financial analysis and interpretation of results.
• Identifies and processes journal entries, prepares general ledger and bank account reconciliations. Takes proper action to correct reconciling items, and completes other accounting functions to ensure the accuracy of the firm’s financial statements.
• Supports the annual budget process in the last quarter of the year and in ongoing forecasting during the year for Management Centers and Cost Centers by collecting and analyzing budget data and reporting conclusions to the Director of Financial Services Operations and Chief Financial Officer. Maintains an understanding of the business functions and financial results of his/her assigned Management Centers and Cost Centers.
• Assists with annual external audit.
• Participates in the annual Evaluation Year process, including testing data and reports for accuracy, as well as proposing corrections to data errors. Prepares reports for distribution. Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and conducts research on current accounting guidelines.
• Participates in the preparation and distribution of the firm’s monthly financial reports.
• Processes journal entries, prepares general ledger and bank account reconciliations, and completes other accounting functions to ensure the accuracy of the firm’s financial statements.
• Works closely with the Accounting Manager in the annual budget process in the last quarter of the year and in ongoing forecasting during the year for Management Centers and Cost Centers, including collecting and analyzing budget data and reporting conclusions to the Director of Financial Services Operations and Chief Financial Officer. Maintains an understanding of the business functions and financial results of his/her assigned Management Centers and Cost Centers.

Secondary

• Provides special reporting or analysis as assigned.
• Utilizes the available financial tools to extract data and run queries to use in testing or building reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA certification preferred.

Experience: Three years of experience in general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

Special Knowledge: Possess experience in researching and applying accounting policies and procedures.

Technical Skills: 10-key and PC familiarity with a proficient understanding of Excel and accounting systems. Knowledge of Access, SQL and Aderant a plus.

Attributes: Ability to review, understand and analyze data as well as compile the results of analysis into clear reports. Also needs good verbal and written communication skills. Must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications: Ability to work proactively and independently, and manage time and multiple projects simultaneously.
