TheDallas CollegeFacilitiesManagementDepartment supports the facility needs forDallas Collegewhile providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of theCollege's physical assets.The Facilities Management Department is responsible forapproximately 5,000,000 sq.ft.of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County.The position of Director College Landscaping Services supports this mission by ensuring high quality and consistent landscaping exists across all Dallas College locations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments and projects, create detailed actions plans, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and directions.
Advanced knowledge of landscaping industry best practices, including pesticide and herbicide applications and EPA laws.
Advanced knowledge of uses for plants and trees in landscaping applications in North Texas.
Advanced knowledge of leading irrigation technology and practices.
Knowledgeable of industry best practices and demonstrates a clear understanding of the proper maintenance of records.
Able to perform quality, service, and safety inspections, monitor and document proper use ofpersonalprotective equipment, supplies, and equipment.
Ability to work independently and respond quickly to specific situations, and ability to work with a team to attain optimal performance and services rendered to campus/location facilities.
Demonstrate positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Able to communicate effectively and courteously with contractors,vendors,and individuals from diversebackgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
Ability to utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document daily work orders.
Physical Requirements
Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending over,stooping, twisting, talking, hearing, climbing ladders, using stairs, reaching overhead, crouching,kneeling,or crawling. Pushing or pulling 10-50lbs., lifting 10-80lbs., carrying 10-50lbs., repetitive use of arms and legs, driving, balancing, manual dexterity-fine manipulation or grasping.May require working in adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 10 years relevant experience of which five (5) years are supervisory or High School Diploma or equivalent, with eight (15) years of related experience of which three (5) years are supervisory.
Valid Texas driver's license.
Licensed Landscape Irrigator.
Licensed Pesticide Applicator

Key Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the activities of a Landscaping department consisting of over 50 technicians across multiple locations.
Manages the day-to-day operations and assigned staff of assignedareas,scheduling,and approving workschedules.
Primary liaison withcontracted services for assigned areas. Responsible fordeterminingand implementing specific trainingneeds based on specializedarea(s).
Responsible for supervision and assignment of work orders to landscaping staff.
Travel between College locations utilizing College owned vehicle.
Reporting Location may vary depending on operational needs.
Will work with Facility Managers to ensure landscaping meets Collegestandards.
Works with otherFacilities teammatesto ensure the highest level of customer service.
Assist other Facilities Management teams as required.
Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
Performs other duties as assigned.
