Position Summary
The student assistant helps support various departmental operations. Duties include but are not limited to assisting visitors by directing them to appropriate resources, compiling data for departmental projects, providing support for programs and events, and performing technical and/or administrative duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be mature, responsible, organized and be able to pay attention to details.
  • Work independently to find resources necessary to complete given tasks.
  • Be able to handle confidential matters and conduct him/herself in a professional manner.
  • Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans.
  • Ability to schedule activities, collect data and when needed use program-related equipment.
  • The ability to plan/prioritize organize and accomplish assigned duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Typical positions for work study student assistants are office assistants, assistant technicians, lab assistants, aides to instructors/deans, athletic assistants, etc.
  • Perform administrative duties relating to students' programs.
  • The duties listed are not intended to be all-inclusive.
  • The duties assigned to any individual employee are at the discretion of the appointing authority.
  • Completes required Dallas College professional development training hours.
  • Performs job duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
  • Students must be in compliance with enrollment requirements.
  • Student must not have any prior institutional balance or blocks.
  • Bilingual preferred.
