Description MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inform parents individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up on learning activities.
Conduct scheduled home visits to improve communications with parents.
Complete home visit forms and maintain records of home visits conducted.
Coordinate the home visit program implemented by teachers (in participating schools).
Help with workshops and prepare accompanying handouts, audiovisual materials, evaluation forms, and informative letters for parenting sessions to improve child development.
Make referrals, access community resources, and serve as an advocate for parents.
Assist with the planning and management of PACT sessions.
Assist with special events and field trips for children and parents.
Keep parents informed of program opportunities and services available at the school or within the community to support student progress with class activities, homework, projects, test-preparation, and social behavior.
Conduct parent education sessions.
Attend professional development sessions conducted by the Family & Community Engagement Office.
Keep teachers abreast of special needs or problems of individual students.
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel. Qualifications
Accredited Senior High SchoolDiploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency), plus one of thefollowing:Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or passan district administered assessment test.
Six months experienceworking with children and parents
Demonstrated effectiveoral and written communication skills
Demonstrated generalknowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics
Demonstrated ability towork with people from diverse ethnic groups
Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
