OUR APPROACHOur organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas.
We rescue and help the healthy and treatable pets at greatest risk for euthanasia at our partner shelters. We also provide assistance and resources to pet owners having problems so significant that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter.

As our Volunteer Recruitment/Orientation Manager, you'll be involved in acquainting our new volunteers to our organization through our orientation program. The orientation is a highly visible effort across our entire organization and will allow you to guide our new volunteers and ensure they have a pawsome start to their experience!
Team Volunteer Team
Location Remote/Virtual - DPA operates in CST/CDT time zone
Time Commitment 3 - 8 hours per month (May be required to facilitate virtual orientations on 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. Other special projects may have flexible hours.
Compensation This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation.
Reports to This role reports to the Assistant Director of Recruitment
Works with This role will have frequent contact with members of the Volunteer Team to include our Assistant Director of Volunteer Operations, Orientation Facilitators, and HR project team members. Will also interact with an array of volunteers across all teams at DPA! This position also includes training and managing Orientation Facilitators.
Orientation Manager ResponsibilitiesThis is a volunteer opportunity provided by VolunteerMatch, in partnership with LinkedIn for Good.

In our rescue program, we focus on
- Rescuing healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters at the greatest risk of being euthanized
- Reducing owner surrender through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program
- Opening kennel space by transporting pets to partners in the U.S. and Canada in need of adoptable animals
- Challenging the way our community views rescue animals. We believe that adoption is not only right thing to do but THE thing to do!
- At this time, we do not accept court-ordered service hours nor track community service hours.
- Our organization does not currently have an established office location, however in March 2023 DPA opened up an Adoption Container.

Orientation Manager ResponsibilitiesThis is a volunteer opportunity provided by VolunteerMatch, in partnership with LinkedIn for Good.
- Assist with any other duties needed to help drive Dallas Pets Alive!’s mission and support our values
- Participate in a rotating schedule to include orientation presenting and being on call for technical support during our pre-planned, scheduled virtual orientations. New applicant orientations are presented virtually every 1st and 3rd Monday each month (Orientation sessions may vary). Mainly serve as back up for Orientation Facilitators during virtual orientation meetings and provide support, including technical assistance.
- Proactively ensure Orientation Facilitators are scheduled, tracking to scheduled orientation meetings, prepared to present, and complete the entire orientation process for the evening.
- Coach and train Orientation Facilitators, when needed. Schedule and coordinate training sessions with Orientation Facilitators, when needed.
- Help drive orientation for new volunteers, responsibilities to include
- Assist with managing orientation signups using Zoom and GMail (stracking attendance, sending orientation follow-up emails)
- Managing content (updating slide deck, creating guest speaker slides), if needed
- Suggesting new ideas to engage volunteers and continuously improve the sessions
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Recruitment to ensure the duties of the Orientation Team are completed or followed up, including
- Orientation meetings are set up properly on Zoom; training (yearly)
- Ad hoc Email reminders and post-orientation emails to registrants are sent out, only if needed
- The new year Orientation dates are brainstormed and scheduled, typically in Decemb
