Job Summary

The Assistant Director of International Student Development will work with the Senior Director of ISD & FLP to ensure the ongoing implementation of all existing and new initiatives in the department. This individual will work with the department to ensure full support of an international student throughout their student life cycle and address needs specific to non-immigrant students worldwide.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Sr. Director of ISD & FLP by serving as the CPOC for ISD staff members and coordinating interdepartmental efforts for ISD with Admissions, Advising, Housing, Online Education, Advancement, Alumni Relations, Registrar, Bursar, Spiritual Formation, and Ministry Formation.
  • Assist in the conceptualization and implementation of the annual ISD strategic planning retreat and other team-building/development exercises throughout the year.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and leadership to support the development of strategies to enhance international student wellness and retention.
  • Work with the Sr. Director of ISD to collaborate with other departments for full support of international students, including but not limited to Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, Housing, Employee Success (Human Resources), and Counseling Services.
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of programs that support the unique needs of international students including the onboarding process, cross cultural events, and new student orientation; teach workshops to facilitate student success and interdepartmental dialogue and education.
  • Provide active case management oversight that supports international students experiencing cross-cultural, family, personal, or economic crisis, which may impact academic performance.
  • Monitor student progress with the Senior ISS Coordinator throughout student life cycle and report back to Associate Dean of International Students the progress of each student in order to ensure success from matriculation to graduation.
  • Work with the ISS team to provide pastoral care for international students and their families as needed.
  • Prepare applicable presentations and communications including emails, memos, reports, and other correspondence.
  • As needed, assist in preparations for arriving international students and celebratory events throughout the year.

Job Qualifications


Basic Requirements:
  • Team-oriented to support International Student Development by providing timely responses to current and prospective students’ needs.
  • Leadership skills to train and mentor current and new employees in ISD
  • Organization skills to assist in managing a team of student workers.
  • Strong computer skills with expertise in spreadsheets (i.e. Excel).
  • Project management skills are preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience with Asana is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Multilingual skills preferred, but not required
  • Cultural awareness and experience in working cross-culturally
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related software
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Experience working with international students and families.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
