Overview

The Sethi Laboratory is looking to recruit an exceptional scientist to join their dedicated, diverse, and collaborative team. We seek a motivated, collegial, dedicated, and diligent Master’s or Ph.D. graduate with a strong background in genetic and xenograft mouse models as well as excellent managerial/leadership skills.

This position is responsible for (1) promoting innovative in vivo studies and (2) leading management of a basic and translational research program by overseeing laboratory operations, including organization of mice colonies. Responsibility will include (1) executing high-quality in vivo experiments and (2) assistance with PI’s administrative responsibilities in the laboratory and supervision of technical staff to maintain good laboratory practice. This individual will report directly to the PI and work closely with the laboratory team, lab administrator, and grants manager. Scientist (50%) – facilitate & innovate upon in vivo gastrointestinal cancer mouse models

The Sethi Laboratory is in the divisions of Molecular and Cellular Oncology and Gastrointestinal Oncology in the Medical Oncology Department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. We are part of the Cancer Program at the Broad Institute, Harvard Digestive Disease Center, and Gastrointestinal Malignancies at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. Our overall goal is to combine clinical observations and patient-derived data with rigorous basic science investigation to yield opportunities for impactful translational advances. SCIENTIST

  • Collaboratively design, manage, and perform in vivo research
  • Proficient in maintaining mouse colonies and executing in vivo experiments
  • Directly train and supervise junior technical assistants and students
  • Actively mentor junior team members with a desire to teach
  • Analyze experimental data and interpret results; write reports and summaries of findings
  • Prepare scientific presentations and publications
  • Interact with collaborators

MANAGER

  • Manage short- and long-term goals and costs of mouse research
  • Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical laboratory tests (e.g., mycoplasma)
  • Lead for generating common laboratory reagents (e.g., competent cells, organize condition media collection)
  • Responsible for inventory and ordering of common supplies required for lab operations.
  • Helps organize storage space for lab members and rotating lab meeting schedule
  • Standardizes lab protocols

Qualifications

Master’s or Ph.D. training will be considered. Significant experience in genetic mouse models and standard laboratory techniques is required.
