DanaherLagnese, PC is Hiring a Litigation Paralegal (Hartford Location) Near Hartford, CT

Description: Litigation paralegal to help manage medical malpractice and other state and federal civil cases. Draft legal documents, including: routine pleadings and motions, subpoenas, affidavits, and discovery responses. Draft other documents, including: deposition summaries and reports to clients. File motions and pleadings in CT State and Federal Courts according to judicial procedures. Prepare, organize, and manage case files, which may include, evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items. Research including: medical literature research, expert witness research, and background/social media research. Obtain medical records and imaging/HIPAA compliance from opposing counsel and health care facilities. Collect, organize, index, and summarize voluminous medical records and billing in complex medical malpractice cases. Obtain other records, including: employment/IRS records, Social Security records, police reports, criminal history reports, Probate Court files. Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects. Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings. Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements: A team-based mentality is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.

Education Requirement: Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred. Paralegal certificate required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
