Danbury Public Schools is Hiring a Part-Time Adult Education (WERACE) Evening ESL Site Supervisor (6 Positions) Near Danbury, CT

Location: WERACE/Adult Ed SCOPE WERACE evening English as a second language (ESL) site supervisor(s) is responsible for providing leadership to adult education ESL program sites including WERACE teachers, staff, and adult learners. Supervisor will spend approximately 60% of time with adult learners and faculty at their respective site improving program outcomes and 40% of time engaging in program supervision responsibilities. Supervisor is directly responsible to the WERACE Facilitator and WERACE Regional Director and is evaluated by the WERACE Regional Director. Evaluation is based upon the site’s progress towards achieving division goals as outlined in the state and federal adult education grants. EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES (Illustrative, not inclusive)
Represent WERACE as the point of contact for program participants and staff at the program site;
Collaboratively work with program site faculty and staff to carry out the division’s mission and vision;
Organize and carry out registration and assessment dates for adult learners;
Communicate with disengaged students to support participant retention;
Register, assess, and place new students are program seats become available;
Effectively work with students on an individual or small group basis, when appropriate, to strengthen specific skills to achieve measurable skill gain;
Attend and actively participate in monthly leadership meetings (both virtually and in-person) with division leadership and other site supervisors to advance adult education ESL program outcomes;
Meet monthly with program site staff to review data and student performance outcomes;
Effectively manage site program data through LACES database, including student attendance and assessments;
Collaboratively work with faculty on site through periodic co-teaching or lesson planning to strengthen student learning outcomes;
Supervise and evaluate a faculty and staff of 3-5 individuals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TESOL certification (111) and/or Teaching English to Non-English Speaking Adults (088);
Experience working with ESL adult learner populations;
Ability and willingness to work with staff and adult learners to creatively overcome barriers to academic success;
Possession of a certificate of completion for English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards I&II and implementation online training or obtainment of certificate within 30 days of hire;
Possession of CASAS testing proctor and coordinator certificate or obtainment of certificate within 30 days of hire;
Possession of a certificate of completion of Adult Education Evaluator training or obtainment of certificate within 90 days of hire;
Proficiency in a language, in addition to English, is preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE WERACE Evening ESL Site Supervisors are scheduled to work the following:
Five (5) evenings, 6:00-9:00pm, between August 19-September 6 for site program registration and assessment (evenings to be selected in collaboration with WERACE Director).
Two (2) evenings per week, 6:00-9:00pm, September 9-May 1.
Two (2) evenings between May 5-8 for program assessment and data completion
Additionally, the Site Supervisor is expected to attend one (1)- two hour leadership meeting per month, as well as hold one (1)- 1.5 hour monthly meeting with site faculty and staff.
LOCATION WERACE Evening ESL Site Supervisors will be assigned to one site location from the following evening adult education program sites for the 2024-2025 school year: Ellsworth Avenue School Hayestown Avenue School Morris Street School Park Avenue School Shelter Rock School Stadley Rough School COMPENSATION Stipend for this position is $9,900.00, paid September-May.
