What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Safety Manager position at Darigold Brand?
This position is responsible for the overall safety, health and regulatory compliance functions as it relates to Safety and Health. This position reports to the Fleet Leader with a dotted line to the Vice President of HSE. Manage accident and insurance claims. Conduct post-accident and post-injury investigations; root cause analysis; and ensure proper completion of required documentation and reporting to the proper agencies. Oversee investigations and resolution of any violations. and will serve as the staff specialist in health, safety and compliance matters Transportation.
What You Will Do
- Design, plan, structure, organize and direct safety and health initiatives; including training, awards programs, disciplinary action programs etc. in order to meet company objectives.
- Oversee the use of the driver performance metrics and associated coaching activities.
- Development and execution of the strategies and procedures associated with Fleet safety and Telematics (digital technology) in coordination with leadership. Implementation with unions is strongly recommended.
- Design, plan, structure, organize and direct compliance initiatives regarding DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, state and local compliance as well as compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with Hours-of-Service regulations, ELD usage, pre/post trip inspections and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Manage and oversee auditing of driver logs.
- Provide leadership to staff.
- Assist in the development of monitoring and tracking programs to insure compliance.
- Develop, source, and implement comprehensive driver safety training requirements.
- Assist in the development of new hire training programs.
- Monitor, evaluate and record training activities and program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement long range accident prevention and cost control objectives.
- Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety and health laws likely to affect the company.
- Develop solid relationships with drivers.
