Uses data science techniques to support organizational priority research projects. Assists researchers in identifying, obtaining, managing and analyzing data, helping to ensure that research projects comply with all relevant DH policies and best practices.

1. Supports organizational research through the use of data science techniques.
2. Effectively communicates results and educates technical and non-technical individuals, senior research leaders and others through reports and presentations.
3. Writes and executes complex SQL joins, writing to databases, creating tables, writing stored procedures
4. Extracts, manipulates, and validates data from various sources.
5. Uses R, Python or equivalent for data analyses including biostatistics, natural language processing, and machine learning.
6. Collaborates with PIs, research teams and Informatics Service Center staff to determine and inform data needs, formulate data requests for studies. Informs teams regarding data availability, interpretation, and analysis.
7. Manages own work and adheres to project timelines.
8. Mentors and coaches colleagues and partners.
9. Adheres to data standards and sharing policies and procedures.
10. Works closely with the Associate Chief Research Officer for Informatics, the Office of Research Operations, and other members of the research informatics team to prioritize work
11. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

• Master’s degree or equivalent plus 3 years of experience (5 years preferred); or PhD plus 2 years of experience.
• Experience working in a health research setting
• Familiarity with clinical terminologies and ontologies
• Familiarity with enterprise data warehouse methods
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Expertise in R and Python for biostatistics, natural language processing, and machine learning
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise data warehouse concepts preferred
• Familiarity with Epic EHR databases (Clarity, Caboodle) preferred
• Complete Cosmos Data Model certification including SlicerDicer Content within 3 months of hire
