Job Details

The REDAPL team is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee our Datastore Management and Serving sub-teams. REDAPL is Datadog's main platform for tracking our customers' infrastructure resources and relationships.
This position will play a critical role in driving the future of our data infrastructure and ensuring the highest level of performance and reliability for our systems. As the team is also quickly growing, you will also be involved in hiring the best candidates for this team.

What You'll Do:
  • Strategic Leadership: Drive the vision and strategy for the teams, ensuring alignment with the overall goals.
  • Team Oversight: Provide guidance and support to the Engineering Managers and ICs within both sub-teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Technical Excellence: Ensure the teams maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and reliability across all systems and services.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement within the datastore and serving domains, promoting best practices and new technologies.
  • Talent Management: Lead hiring efforts to attract and retain top talent, ensuring the growth and development of team members through mentoring and professional development opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and stakeholders to align on priorities, address challenges, and deliver high-impact solutions.
Who You Are:
  • You have proven experience managing teams that shipped and operated business-critical systems.
  • You have demonstrated ability in designing, building, and operating distributed systems to solve problems at scale.
  • Have managed multiple teams and individuals for over 4 years, including at least 1 year of managing other managers.
  • You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively through complex technical problems with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, able to adapt strategies and solutions in response to emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Skilled in setting team goals and prioritizing features that align with business needs.
  • Effective at giving and receiving feedback, enhancing the work environment and team collaborations.
  • Possess excellent teamwork, communication, and technical problem-solving skills to contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams through the full design process from concept to launch, with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain a growth mindset, actively seeking learning opportunities and new challenges.
  • Able to clearly articulate design decisions and strategies
  • Proven ability to envision long-term goals and focus efforts to achieve them.
  • Efficient in optimizing team workflows and processes to enhance team output and collaboration.
  • Known for balancing fast iteration, strategic ambiguity, and high-quality outcomes in a dynamic business environment.
