Davidson Homes is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team! The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication and negotiation skills, along with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of supply chain management in the construction industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful execution of our projects and to play a key role in the growth and development of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain for construction materials and services.
  • Source and negotiate materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects while adhering to budgetary constraints and project timelines.
  • Conduct cost analysis and comparison of suppliers to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising quality or reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, contracts, and supplier/vendor performance metrics.
  • Generate reports and analysis to support decision-making and budgeting processes.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, such as implementing alternative sourcing options or securing backup suppliers.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including construction managers and accounting, to coordinate procurement activities and support project objectives.
  • Support community builders with purchase order discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply chain disruptions.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular vendor assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedule.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 2 or more years of proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or similar role in the construction industry, preferably within a production home building company.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Consistent attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Strong PC skills required, with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook).
  • Prior experience with Newstar and BuildPro is preferred.
