Supervisory Responsibilities: NONE

Position Type: FULL-TIME

FLSA Classification: NON-EXEMPT

Reports To: FOOD SERVICE MANAGER

*Location: VARIES BASED ON ASSIGNMENT

Compensation:

Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code 7234

Hours Per Day: Varies based on assigned location

Contracted Days: 181

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· High school diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or satisfactory progress towards a G.E.D.

· Good general health; capable of heavy lifting.

· Demonstrate or develop skills in the use and care of commercial food service equipment.

· Positive attitude toward students, staff, and school.

· Must meet the requirements of 702 KAR 6:045, which prescribes the necessary qualifications and training of beginning school food service employees.

Knowledge Of:

· Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites, and operation of point of sale system

· Standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements.

· HACCP procedures including sanitation practices related to handling and serving food.

· Basic math skills.

· Proper lifting techniques.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

To contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the school cafeteria for the ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of the students.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

· Use a computer based point-of-sale system to adjust account balances, collect money and enter/confirm count for reimbursable meals.

· Understand requirements for reimbursable meals and monitor student trays to ensure requirements are met.

· Maintain confidentiality regarding the identity of those students who are participating in the free and reduced price meal programs as well as HIPPA related information, including allergies.

· Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and meet all HACCP requirements.

· Operate and maintain the dishwasher in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner; report any malfunctions to the manager immediately.

· Keep Food Service Manager informed of low inventories.

· Portion and serve food to students and staff while following standard procedures, health and safety regulations, and HACCP requirements.

· Must be able to learn, apply, and explain policies, procedures, rules, and regulations as needed.

· Report accidents and refer potential safety hazards to the location’s Food Service Manager.

· Demonstrate a positive attitude toward food nutrition.

· Meet required schedules and time lines.

· Perform related duties at special meal functions, such as banquets, when needed-including some activities/events outside of normal work hours.

· Demonstrate loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools.

· Participate in planned training programs.

· Understand and follow oral and written directions.

· Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
