DC Department of Human Resources is Hiring a Compliance and Regulations Specialist Near Washington, DC

Job SummaryThis position is located in the District of Columbia State Athletics Association (DCSAA). DCSAA's mission is to create a unified system by which to govern and administer interscholastic athletic programs and to provide statewide competitions for public schools, public charter schools, private schools, and parochial schools.
The incumbent in this role is responsible for providing DC residents equitable access to high-quality recreational programs, services, and facilities - across all 8 Wards.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesIncumbent serves internally as the Chief Compliance Officer applying assessment and evaluative methods to established processes with the DCSAA. Ensure each participant listed on school rosters or official team rosters are enrolled under the interscholastic athletics program and in the Local Education Association (LEA) of the school they are representing. Ensures and authenticates participant eligibility to include residency and academic requirements. Ensures all Local Education Agency's (LEA's) participates in DCSAA events and follows the guidelines in the DCSAA handbook. Constructs Standard Operating Guides for each LEA and aids LEAs with appropriate rules and procedures to ensure compliance measures are met. Ensures the interscholastic athletics programs are compatible and aligns with the educational mission of participating member schools.
Incumbent maintains a student-athlete database of the athletic history of all membership school's student athletes to assist in determining eligibility. Works collaboratively with the Director in leading and coordinating athletic programs and championship events offered by the DCSAA and assists the Director with the oversight and management of the DCSAA's sports and activities program. Serves as the Title IX coordinator to ensure LEAs are in compliance with regulations. Organizes, schedules, conducts, and monitors compliance and rule interpretation sessions for all member school athletic directors and coaches. Reviews waiver packets to ensure they are accurate and meet the standard for DCSAC consideration. Represents DCSAA in appeal hearings of student-athletes requesting a waiver of a rule(s). Ensures the creation of interscholastic rules and regulations that govern DCSAA middle school sports/ activities in the District of Columbia. Liaises between DCSAA and LEA middle school athletic directors to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Produces quarterly reports and works in conjunction with internal and external entities to ensure authentication and accuracy of data and information received. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/EducationSpecialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
