DC Department of Human Resources is Hiring a Compliance Specialist Near Washington, DC
The Office collaborates with other District government agencies and nonprofit organizations to provide immediate wraparound services to victims and families affected by violent crime. The Office also coordinates with District agencies and community-based organizations to develop violence prevention programs for individuals residing in priority neighborhoods or who are most at risk of participating in, or being a victim of, violent crime, including through the use of financial incentives for participation. The Office develops positive relationships with youth and adults using best practices associated with the intervention and prevention of violence while using positive behavioral reinforcement activities.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesConducts reviews of illegal, improper or non-compliant activities within the organization. Collects, correlates, and analyzes large amounts of information to identify, or to substantiate compliance violations. Identifies trends or indicators of these activities from background material and other information sources. Identifies and cites violations and deficiencies with accompanying recommendations for corrective action by supervisor or higher level(s) of authority. Prepares compliance audits data by compiling and analyzing internal and external information.
Determines the methods, approach, and procedures to be utilized to obtain the required information. Analyzes and interprets audit and investigative report findings. Draws valid conclusions and prepares reports on problem matters; develop recommendations for any necessary changes or corrective actions required. Performs in-depth research through the review and/or audit of administrative or programmatic records and reports, such as organizational documents, courthouses, educational institutions, financial institutions, law enforcement organizations, and health facilities; and administrative databases, internet, etc. of the District and/or other organizations as appropriate to establish factual background information/facts, as such information may be used to initiate or pursue civil or administrative judgements.
Qualifications And EducationSpecialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Working Conditions/EnvironmentThe work is typically performed in an office or conference room setting; however, site visits outside the organization may be necessary in obtaining information sources.

Position Destination: This position has been deemed Security Sensitive under the guideline of the DC Personnel Manual. Incumbents of this position are subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC personnel regulations. Accordingly, incumbents must successfully pass a criminal background and consumer credit check as a condition of employment and will be subject to periodic criminal background checks for the duration of their tenure.
