DCCC is Hiring a Regional Voter Protection Director Near Washington, DC

Reports To: Deputy Director of Voter Protection

Department: Voter Protection

Work Location: Hybrid (WFH & DC Headquarters)

Job Type: Full-Time, Salary Exempt 

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Position Summary: The DCCC is hiring Regional Voter Protection Directors (RVPDs) for the 2024 election cycle. RVPDs will work within their regional pod and department to help build and implement voter protection programs in competitive races across the country. Ideal candidates for this position will have a background in voter protection work and experience managing large volunteer programs. This is a hybrid position that will require working in the DC office multiple days per week. The target start date is July 8, 2024. 

This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Draft district specific voter protection plans including election administration, poll observing and ballot cure programs
  • Set goals around voter protection work for early vote, election day, and post-voting
  • Organize a network of volunteer county liaisons to facilitate early and frequent contact with key election officials in priority districts
  • Manage poll observer programs in target key districts by managing the LBJ tracking process of volunteer scheduling, boiler room training, and assignments
  • Collaborate with Post-Election Deputy, Analytics, Elias Law Group, and targeted campaigns to prepare for ballot cure, ballot counting, and related close election activities
  • Advise and train Organizing and Constituency Engagement staff around voter registration, vote by mail, new election laws, and expanded opportunities to vote before Election Day
  • Build a strong volunteer infrastructure in target districts, with pipelines for recruitment, training, and accountability
  • Work with Elias Law Group to track legislation, rules, and guidance that could have an impact on the election or voting experience and provide DCCC staff and Campaigns with timely updates
  • Build relationships with existing state voter protection staff to ensure streamlined communications between state parties, coordinated campaigns, and the DCCC when it comes to voter protection
  • Work across departments to ensure interdepartmental communication and collaboration

Requirements

  • 1 cycles working on political campaigns in a voter protection capacity or 2 cycles experience working on political campaigns in an organizing capacity or comparative experience working with community, advocacy or electoral organizations with success in developing and winning campaigns
  • Law School Graduate is a plus but is not required 
  • Experience with VAN and LBJ is highly desired
  • Experience volunteering or working on political campaigns in 3 or more different states is a plus
  • Experience coaching and managing volunteers
  • Experience helping building election administration and/or poll observer programs
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate creative thinking, sound judgment, a strong work ethic and a competitive spirit.
