Summary:
Operate heavy construction equipment to excavate, grade, and prepare work areas for general construction projects. This is a non-exempt hourly position.
Duties Include
· Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
· Perform daily maintenance checks and procedures including lubrication of equipment
· Proactively communicate with company personnel concerning equipment and job-related projects or problems
· Read grade stakes
· Read a blueprint
· Assist Lowboy driver with proper loading and unloading tiedown procedures
· Complete required paperwork
· Maintain safe and organized work area
· Properly care for and maintain company equipment
· Wear personal protective equipment on site
· Working more than 40 hours per week as needed
· Working nights and weekends as needed
· Perform manual labor as needed
· Out of town travel may be required
· Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
Knowledge of:
· Utility line installation
· Heavy construction equipment operations
· Occupational hazards
· Basic blueprint, construction drawings and specifications
· Soils, aggregates and compaction techniques
· PENNDOT and Heavy/Highway Experience a Plus
Ability to:
· Recognize problems or errors at a work site
· Make minor repairs to equipment
· Be on time, reliable and dependable with the work schedule
· Follow company policies and procedures
· Properly and neatly complete required paperwork
· Take and follow instructions
· Work under direct and indirect supervision
· Climb on and off equipment safely
· Operate levers and pedals smoothly to make adjustments to control mechanisms
· Sit for extended periods of time
· Work with fuel and other petroleum products
· Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
· Push a force of 80 pounds
· Pull a force of 150 pounds
· Walk, work, bend, lift, and stand on uneven terrain for extended periods of time
· Shovel and use other hand tools
· Work in a shop or field environment and tolerate exposure to dust, welding fumes, exhaust fumes, hot/cold temperatures, extreme/inclement weather, vibrations, noise and compact spaces
Qualifications:
· Must have a valid drivers license for the state in which you reside
· Class A or B CDL a plus
Education:
· High school graduate preferred
Experience:
· Minimum two year’s of experience operating heavy equipment
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 70 per week
