Dean McGee Eye Institute is Hiring a Surgical Scheduler Near Oklahoma, OK
Primary Responsibilities And Duties
- Schedules surgical procedures for patients with appropriate provider, date/time slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling code(s).
- Interfaces with appropriate DMEI clinic/scheduling staff to promote a cohesive work environment so as to ensure the provision of excellent continuity of care.
- Enters all patient account information, including insurance.
- Effectively utilizes MESC clinical resources/clinical personnel to ensure that an appointment is consistent with the diagnosis/indications indicated.
- Confirms daily surgery schedule with pertinent scheduling staff within the DMEI centralized scheduling team
- Performs these duties in a manner that is organized and accurate in order to promote patient safety by reducing the likelihood of scheduling/clerical errors that can be linked to medical/health care errors.
- Willingly assists other team members within the MESC front office, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Epic knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Knowledge of insurance providers and associated guidelines
- Able to multi task while paying close attention to detail
- Knowledge and understanding of patients’ protected health information and HIPAA
- Medical terminology
- Previous scheduling experience necessary
- Minimum of a High School Diploma and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
