deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Principal Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
Position Description:
The selected Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing scripts that drive the automated testing efforts for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense Weapons Systems, Ground Support Systems product team.
Responsibilities Include:

• Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
• Develop requirements driven software solutions.
• Resolve software issues (debugging) and support verification / test analysis.
• Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
• Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.
• Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university.
Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience.
• Years of experience for this role is capped at 10 years.
• Experience developing software in C and Java.
• Experience with software development for embedded systems.
• Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.

Special Skills Desired:

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
• Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
• Experience developing using a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating System.
• Knowledge of various scripting languages and tools: Python, MATLAB, etc.
• Familiarity with build tools: Gradle and/or CMake, etc.
• UI Framework / JavaFX exposure.
• Git version control system exposure.
• Familiarity utilizing the Atlassian tool suite. (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Fisheye Crucible)
• Familiarity with Software Containerization.
• Experience working on CMMI Level 3 programs.
• Security Certification.
